Biography: Hazel received her B.S. in chemistry from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2016 and her Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from the University of Oregon in 2021, under the guidance of Profs. Darren Johnson and Michael Haley. Her thesis work studied the host-guest chemistry of the hydrochalcogenide anions, with a particular emphasis on their interaction with non-traditional C-H hydrogen bond donors. At UT Austin she studies information storage and retrieval with self-sequencing oligourethanes. She spends all of her free time with her dog Charlie.
